The useful question is not simply which robot vacuum has the biggest specification. It is which one can reach your rooms, manage your surfaces and fit into your cleaning routine. A few measurements and a clear list of priorities make the comparison much easier.
This guide uses manufacturer information for Dreame X50 Ultra, ECOVACS DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone and Roborock Saros 10R. We have not tested their cleaning performance, so the examples explain purchasing trade-offs rather than declare a winner.
Map the route before comparing features
Walk the route from the proposed dock to each room. Measure the tightest passage, furniture clearance and raised threshold. Note rugs, cables and places where a door is normally shut. If reaching a room needs your intervention every time, include that in the decision.
Roborock lists the Saros 10R at 79.8 mm high; Dreame lists 89 mm when the X50 Ultra's navigation sensor is lowered. Those dimensions are useful starting points, but leave practical clearance and check the full operating requirements. A nominally small enough robot is not proof that it will navigate every furniture arrangement.
- Measure clearance at the lowest point, including any sagging furniture base.
- Photograph unusual thresholds and ask the seller about their shape as well as height.
- Plan separately for each storey and for moving the robot when required.
Treat obstacle claims as specific conditions
Dreame's X50 Ultra page distinguishes a 4.2 cm single-level obstacle claim from a 6 cm multi-level claim. Neither describes climbing a household staircase. This is why the small print beside a mobility demonstration matters as much as the headline.
Obstacle detection also needs a realistic routine. Decide which items you can reliably clear before a run and what you expect the robot to avoid. Ask for the model's restrictions around cords, loose fabrics and pet mess rather than assuming that an AI label guarantees recognition.
Compare the cleaning system, not one suction number
For carpet, inspect the brush arrangement and how mops are lifted, detached or kept out of carpeted areas. For hard floors, compare the mop mechanism, water settings and cleaning-solution requirements. Confirm that your flooring manufacturer's care instructions allow the proposed cleaning method.
Maximum suction is a manufacturer specification, not our measurement of debris pickup. It does not, by itself, tell you about edge reach, hair removal, mopping, navigation or repeat passes. Ask what the machine will do on your actual mix of surfaces and what still needs manual attention.
Choose a dock you can live with
Automatic emptying and mop washing can remove steps from a daily clean, but tanks, brushes, filters and the dock still need attention. Check the space required to open lids and remove water tanks. A dock that fits under a bench may still be awkward to service there.
The DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone has a bagless station. That changes dust handling and removes the need for that station's dust bags; it does not mean the entire cleaning system has no consumables. Compare the actual parts lists, replacement intervals and emptying process.
- List the included pads, filters, bags and solution, then price replacements separately.
- Check the route to refill clean water and dispose of dirty water.
- Distinguish mop-washing temperature at the dock from what touches your floor.
Check the app and the Australian purchase
Confirm phone compatibility, Wi-Fi requirements and which controls remain available without an internet connection. Review camera, mapping, remote-view and account settings for the exact model. Roborock's inspected Saros 10R listing specifies 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so check your network setup before ordering.
Finally, compare identical bundles and ask where repairs are handled. Read the current dispatch statement: an accepted order can still have a future shipping date. Check whether a used or installed robot can be returned if it does not suit the home, and retain the seller's written answer.
A little more clarity
Questions before choosing.
Is the highest Pa rating the best robot vacuum?
A maximum suction figure is only one specification. Match the brushes, carpet handling, mop system, navigation, dock and maintenance to your home. We do not rank these models by untested cleaning results.
Do self-cleaning docks need maintenance?
Yes. Check the model's instructions for tanks, filters, brushes, pads and dock cleaning. Automation can reduce particular tasks without eliminating the whole maintenance routine.
Can these robot vacuums climb stairs?
The models in this guide should not be treated as stair-climbing cleaners. Threshold-crossing claims apply to defined obstacles and conditions; they do not establish movement between storeys.
